The Village Foster Closet – FAQ
What types of donations do you accept?
Children’s clothing
In season, new or “like new”, sizes Newborn- Teen XL. If you’d give it to a friend, then you can give it to The Village! We appreciate you not donating things that are ripped, stained, worn out or otherwise not usable.
Shoes
Children’s sneakers, teen athletic sneakers, seasonal shoes like boots in the winter and sandals in the summer.
Toys & Games
New toys for any age, new board games & art supplies for all ages. Toys are given out for Birthdays and other special occasions, so we do not accept any used toys at this time.
Hygiene products
Diapers in all sizes. Wipes, lotions, shampoo, conditioners & body wash. Many parents prefer hygiene items with no fragrance or dye, as many kids have sensitive skin.
Miscellaneous items
Waterbottles, journals, life skills books, hair accessories, handheld games and other fun items for teens. $5-10 gift cards to places like wawa or dunkin are also helpful to give to teens when they don’t shop for many things. New backpacks and duffle bags are also preferred by teens to store their personal belongings.
Things we do not accept!
- Suitcases of any type.
- Cribs or bassinets.
- Carseats, booster seats or any carseat accessories.
- Used socks or underwear.
- Open hygiene products.
- Houseware items including candles and room decor.
- Food or drinks.
- Large baby gear like swings and high chairs.

How can I volunteer at your Foster Closet?
Send us an email and we can give you volunteer opportunities! Typically, our volunteers meet on Wednesday mornings from 9-11 and an occasional Saturday.
Can my group do a collection or service project?
Yes! We welcome any group projects and would love to share about them on our social media! Please send us an email and we can provide you with specific needs and arrange a time for the donation drop off.
Why don't you have regular open hours?
Our Foster Closet is open by appointment only for Foster & Adoptive Families. This gives Families privacy and plenty of time to shop as needed! If you’re looking for donation hours, we are typically open Wednesdays 9-11am, please check our social media or email us!
How can I donate if I don't live nearby?
Our Amazon Wishlist has our most needed items! All items will be shipped directly to our mailing address and brought to The Village to be displayed on our shelves. Our Wishlist can be found here
